These guys called me about unfair charges from ATT I refused to pay. They would not give me their address. I asked four times and he kept saying, "What is your credit card number?" When I said I will deal with this through the mail, he said, "refusal to pay" and hung up. How do some people sleep with themselves at night? There's more good than bad people out there but man, do the bad ones stick out.

I completely back this post up-Jim wilson has got to be the most belligerent and condescending human being on the face of the earth. I had a bill that I did not charge-come to find out my identity had been stolen-and I said it wasn't my bill, never received a bill for it and never even opened an account with them-anyways he called me a liar and that I'm young so I should just pay it up. When i told him i was disputing it and by law he needs to send me information regarding the account, he said "no, your not disputing this." haha so i hung up because he just kept getting ruder and ruder. He calls back, gets my folks, yells at them and says he's putting down refusal to pay. Lol so that was a wow moment. A few hours after my blood had stopped boiling, I called the company back and went to customer service. Asked for the supervisor of Jim Wilson-got the supervisors extension--and called him the next day. Got Jim Wilson's supervisor and reported it. He asked what I would like seen done--I said I wouldn't tolerate that kind of behavior in my company-I want to see him let go. I don't think they let him go-but if you get a Jim Wilson-don't even call back or answer. Call the company they say you have a bill with and check with their records. Don't ever give these people your bank info-i don't trust them one bit

Like many of the people who posted above, SW Credit called me saying that I owed AT&T money when I did not. I received a call last week from Chris at SW Credit systems saying that I had a delinquent account with AT&T for over $200 dollars. Chris wanted me to to pay the bill right then with a check or credit card. Since I did not think that this was legit (and was for a lot of money!), I did not want to pay on the spot, so I asked for an account number and phone number for AT&T. Chris gave that information to me. I previously had an account with AT&T which had been closed 7 months earlier and I was sure that I did not owe any money on that account. I called AT&T to verify Chris' claim. The AT&T rep searched my old records and billing info and then verified with the AT&T finance department that I did not have an outstanding balance. So then, in a 3 way conference call with AT&T, SW Credit, and me, AT&T told SW Credit that I did not owe them any money. The man at SW Credit said that his name was Mr. Green, a manager at SW Credit, and that there had been a mistake, and it was not AT&T that I owed money to it was US Cellular. He then asked the AT&T rep to hang up because he was a third party not involved in this matter. I asked Mr. Green for an account number and contact number for US Cellular. Neither Mr. Green the manager, at SW Credit, nor Chris, the customer service rep at SW Credit could provide contact information for me to contact US Cellular to verify the claim. Long story short... Chris keeps pressuring me to "resolve this matter" by paying him over $200 by check or credit card over the phone, when he has not provided and proof that I owe this money. I have looked up SW Credit at the Texas Better Business Bureau. They have an A+ rating even though they have 128 complaints filed against them in the last 36 months. SW Credit appears to use pressure and bullying to coerce people into paying money without providing any proof that the money is really owed. ok I have been getting calls non stop from this number, and it always appears unknown on my call id so i dont answer then the number 1-800-462-3894 pops up next to the voicemail listed on my iPhone. After listening to the voicemail with the recorded lady with an accent I figured it had to be a kind of scam b/c I'm a college student who is lucky enough to have my bills paid for by my mother. So I have not called them back. I do have AT&T and understand that if you cancel ur account with at&t if u have an unpaid balance it can be transfered to a credit union, however my entire family is still on a family plan with at&t therefore how can i have an unpaid balance of anything to transfer to the credit union seeing as at&t is still part of the picture?

You have to realize that if you have a bill(or past bill) with a company like at&t, they hold on to it only for so long, then they write it off and sell it to a creditor.  It is not at&t's fault, you probably owe the bill but didn't know. Let's say your bill is $100, at&t is no longer in the loop now while the creditor will contact you regarding your bill they bought from at&t in attempt to collect it.  The creditor has bought the bill owed for $15-$20(just a guess) and will say the bill is $125 adding in their fees to scare you and keep calling you.  You can: (a) Ignore it and they will keep calling you(b) Pay them the amount owed plus the fees(c) They will even settle it with you for let's say $75(just a guess).(d) Tell them they have the wrong number and they will generally leave you alone(in most cases)Either way they will make money with B and C, it usually shows up on your credit report anyways, especially if they are the second or third creditor to call you about it.Choosing A can drag on for months until they sell it to another credit company to do the same thing all over again.Choosing D can work, BUT they may just sell it to another credit company to try to collect.I always choose D and that usually works, but the moment you tell them that it is your number then it is on and it shows you have had contact with them in which it can keep dragging on FOREVER or at least until a few years go by and it falls off your credit report.  The point is you do not want to talk to them or have contact with them, but dispute it on your credit report though if it is showing up.DO NOT BE SCARED OF THESE LOW-LIFE COMPANIES, THEY ARE JUST DOING THEIR JOB, AS BAD AS IT SUCKS. THEY HAVE SPECIAL WAYS TO HANDLE PEOPLE THEY CALL SO JUST TRY TO AVOID THEM BY TELLING THEM YOU ARE NOT THAT PERSON.  IF YOU ARE A GUY, USE A GIRL(or vice-versa) TO TELL THEM THEY CALLED A PRE-PAID PHONE AND THAT PERSON DOES NOT OWN THIS PHONE AND YOU DO NOT KNOW THEM.GOOD LUCK!!

Ex AT&T Customer
Reading all the above comments, I am glad to see I am not alone. I have been dealing with Southwest credits ultra rude customer service for the past two weeks now. I was with AT&T but due to the fact I travel, any time I am outside of North Carolina the bars are always low, and reception bad. Now I understand I had a two year contract with AT&T so I called them to cancel my account and charge me for the amount owned to cancel also. I gave my credit card info and scheduled a payment to be taken out. I thought I was no longer part of AT&T as for the next 4 months IO heard nothing from them barring a promotion letter from time time. Just two week ago Southwest credit called me, the man had a middle eastern mixed with Mexican accent ad sounded rather strange asking for me and that I owed them money from At&t. Before calling back I received another phone call from them. The man with the same middle-eastern mixed with Mexican accent told be he was collecting a debt from at&t. Listing off a number of charges which I though had been taken care off, not to mention the debt collection fees. I told him that I thought this should have been taken care off 4 months ago, and that before talking any further I had to contact at&t. This is when he became rude, he said they will not talk to you, I said, well that maybe the case, but this is news to me and I am going to call them. He acted rather strange saying that he was the only person I had to deal with, upon which I asked to speak with his manager, said no! Now in any case when you ask to talk to higher authority they have to put you through. He keeps on calling most days and today was the worst. I told him that i was looking into the south west credit history and about them and also that i would not talk to him anymore, he called me a liar to which I said put me through to your manager. He then mimicked my voice and said" Oh, put me through to your manager" I said excuse me what is your issue, he said pay us man, pay your bill man.How unprofessional is that. I called higher office after trying to get through and put in my complaint. I have not heard back yet. This is an outrageous way for at&t to hand customers who thought all was paid to such a playground attitude business.I will not pay any claimed fees to such a place and am taking maters up with at&t, although at&t themselves said I could not deal with at&t anymore and only this place.I thought I was going crazy until I read this blog of complaints.

I had the exact same thing. They called for my mom, who I have not lived with for almost eight years. When I said she no longer lives at this address, the gentlemen said "I am having trouble believing that."
