Did you find out any more information about this free cruise offer?  Our meeting is tonight with the Valley View agency.  Should I cancel it do you think???

no scam for me
I entered a drawing to win a car at the Cleveland Women's Show and that's how I started getting calls about the Bahamas cruise.  This is nothing but a high pressure telemarketing travel agency that uses a drawing scam to sell vacations.  I called them back and cancelled my appointment at Travel Wise in Valley View, OH and told them to remove me from their call list.  This is not the first solicitation call I got from attending the Cleveland Women's Show. A lot of businesses were using it as a way to get phone numbers and e-mail addresses to telemarket.  If the show is repeated I wouldn't waste my time going again.

Mr G
Attended the same meeting just this past week.  They said an hour presentation, which it was, but then they break up the group and have their sales people offer you deals.  They start off with the original "deal".  It's like $12,000 for 30 week long vacations reserved at their $699.99 price no matter what the price of inflation is, a last minute week vacation at $199, plus $339 as an annual fee to stay a member.  These trips do not include any kind of airfare though (which they "fail" to mention).  I was one of the first people out of the breakout sections because I told them that over the phone I was told I only had to sit through an hour presentation and was not told about it being any longer and that I had another appointment to make.  About an hour and 30 min after all was said and done.Anyways, the trip does seem pretty legit and my friend and I are going to check it out.  We were quoted at around $250-$300 in misc charges per person which for a 4 day, 3 night cruise with airfare to the port isn't bad.  BTW, I do believe that they try to sell upgrades to you over the phone when you book the cruise.  I probably won't be going for a while, but I'll try to come back and update this post after the trip.

I just talked to the nice people at travelwise vacations and here's the deal...you have to attend a meeting/presentation in Valleyview then you receive a trip to the Bahamas (3 days) including airfare and the cruise.  Food is included-alcohol is not...Here's the catch-you have to pay the taxes on the trip...there are probably some other fees...going to research some more...

I actually went to the meeting last night and although it went about an hour and 45 minutes versus the 60 minutes they had said, it wasnt too bad.  I left without spending a dime and only had to say no about 10 times.  I got the voucher for the free, excluding taxes, cruise and was quite pleased with the whole experience.  Actually the vacation plan they were trying to sell seemed like a very good deal if you are willing to part with the money.  I wasn't so i took the free trip and left.  If you have no problem sitting through an hour long presentation and sitting one on one with a sales person for another half hour saying you dont want to join, i would definitely recommend going.  It seems like the cruise will end up costing about $300 in the end but thats not too bad for air fare, and a 4 day 3 night cruise.

If you call a toll free number from a pay phone it cost them about $0.30 for each call.  If everybody would call the toll free number from a pay phone several times a day their cost of business would increase - perhaps enough that they would go out of business  When calling the toll free number you just have to make sure the call connects.  You don't have to have a conversation.  Once the call connects, even if it’s just for a second, they get charged the $0.30

We went to the scheduled meeting.  They have you sit through a presentation and then they try to get you to join their vacation plan.  The longer you hold out the better the deal gets.  Actually didn't end up sounding too bad of a deal.  Anyway, you do end up walking out with a certificate for a 4 day/3 night cruise and airfare for two.  You have to pay the port fees and taxes though (up to a total of about $450).  Still not a bad deal.

Just received the exact same call as all of you except they said I signed up at a Chicago Cubs game.  I was, to say the least, a bit intoxicated this year when I did go but do not remember signing up for anything that weekend.  Oh well, I'll just keep ignoring their phone calls.  Google is a wonderful thing.

Liz M.
I got a call from this number yesterday evening, from someone who got my name and phone number from a drawing for a Mercedes.  I explained to this person that I was not available the next three days for the information session (I honestly could not attend even if I wanted to, which I didn't).  This person took the liberty of SIGNING ME UP ANYWAY.  Another person called me this morning at my work extension to confirm and seemed honestly confused at my annoyance.  Like the old adage goes, if something seems to good to be true, it probably is.

John - Rittman, Ohio
Received a call from someone at Travel Wise (or TravelWise) that we had won a cruise to the Bahama's (4 days/3 nights.) She told us this was from when we signed up (some kind of "drawing" ...not sure for what though) at a Cleveland Cavalier's game. She told me up front that we would have to pay the "Port Fee" of $189 when we actually take the cruise. We have up to a year to take the cruise but we would need to meet with them on Rockside Road for about an hour within the next week or so. She said they are a member of the Better Business Bureau so this was all on the up and up. I will post after we go to let everyone know our findings.
