I got an automated call from this company asking for a name that I couldn't understand, but was definitely not me.  I think it was Vin Vaghn or something silly like that.  Anyway, I've never made a late payment in my life, and no one with a name like that lives here, so it must have been a wrong number.  However, they didn't give an option to tell them that it was the wrong number.  When I tried to talk to a real person, there was no one available.  They also called me on Sunday afternoon.  I have worked for a collection agency in the past, and I'm pretty sure that it is illegal to call on Sunday, and also to have no option to get off the list if it really is a wrong number.  And, I'm 100% sure that it is illegal for them to give out information on someone else's account without verifying that they are talking to that person.  Just saying "press 1 if you are this person" is not good enough to protect their privacy.  I think this whole thing is a scam to trick people into thinking that they owe money when they don't.  This does not sound legitimate or even legal to me, considering I used to work in the business.

I keep getting automated phone calls asking me to identify myself after a brief moment of silence the caller will say by listening you will agree that listening to the message you are the person in question, and if not hangup now. I pay the phone bill, the company has no rights to tell me when to hang up the phone!. I don't want any phone calls I don't do business like that, everything I do is in writing.

Yeah these jerks are bothering me too.  They once called in person, wouldn't give me the company name, and then an automated call tonight.  If the scam artists read this, know that if I ever hunt down your street address, I'm going to pay you a visit.  You are not supposed to be harrassing people.

Dear Annoyed:  You really need to think about a new career and some education. I can tell you are young, uneducated and at that pay level of about $7.00 per hour. I think it's great that you are working but you need to read a little more carefully. Most of these post say these people are trying to reach some unknown person. You people are so lazy you can't even do a google search of the number you are calling. How about doing a public records search ??  I mean come on man--put a little effort into your work and stop acting like the little kid that you are. Start taking you meds again or slit your wrists--I don't care !!!!

I get a message from these people, Penn Credit Corporation, at least three times per week asking for some strange named person, who is not me.  The message says that by continuing to listen to the message, my answering machine is confirming that I am this strange named person (I can't even pronounce the name of the person they are looking for).  The message then says to call 800-900-1380 for an important business matter.  I finally decided to call the number and tell them they have the wrong person.  When I called, I gave them my phone number, and said they would remove me from their call list.  The person was actually helpful and nice.  But we'll see if I still continue to get these stupid calls.  I'm registered with the Do Not Call list, but that doesnt seem to apply to this company somehow.

My son keeps getting calls fom (800) 900-1380 on his cell phone.  They call all weekend, early hours in the morning. I talked to one person and told them the person they are looking for is not at the number they are calling. And they still call ALL OF THE TIME.

Apparently these people buy dead collections accounts and try to collect.  My wife had an account with D**** Book Club.  When she was diagnosed with Alzheimers I went through her back bills and straightened them up.  Canceled and paid off.  This book club accepted a check in my name and I returned all books whether paid for or not.  I was told everything was OK.  After Central Collections  aka. Penn Credit started calling I called back the book club.  I was told (confidentially) that some MBA at the book club sold all their dead account information.  Apparently Central mined them for irregular accounts and started trying to collect.  Since my wife ( now dead ) never did pay, and my name was on the last payment, they decided that her account was not paid up and was now mine.  They are trying to collect on a paid and canceled account from a non account holder.  The book club can't do anything because the account is paid and closed and I am not an (the) account holder.  It would cost ~$60 to pay them off and $250+ for my lawyers time.  I will be D***'d if I will pay tribute.  I am going to have my lawyer file a notification of intent to sue against this company.  Perhaps someone in their legal department will fix their problem.

Called and left message on answering machine.  If I wasn't J...., then I shouldn't listen to the message.  Go figure.  They call and leave a message on MY machine and I shouldn't listen if I'm not J......  Anyhow, I "listened" to the message and called them back and strongly asked them to take my number off their collection calling as I'm NOT J....... and there is no one living here by that name.  Of course, I've told them this before so we'll see if it actually works this time.  They asked J... to call back to 800-900-1380.  Maybe the rest of you would like to give them a call?
